Medhi Djouad

Mehdi Djouad (DZ) was born the same day as Jean Genet. Tanastrologist – but not only that, he poeticizes people’s lives during crucial moments. Apart from her celestial, musical, and literary activities, she dances well and almost all the time, sometimes accompanied by ethereal grognasses.

Franco-Algerian artist and astrologer, first trained in theatre at La Manufacture, Mehdi weaves astrology together with rituality, dance, and writing, transforming celestial cycles into stage creations. Through the lens of a queer and sensitive astrology, directly inspired by the Islamic school, Mehdi—like on their star charts—connects different symbols to reconcile the sky of intimacy with collective history. Nourished by postcolonial thought and various religious traditions, Mehdi seeks to gather on stage the constellations of a fractured and polarized world.
