Marie Bajenova
Marie hikes through cuts and materials that accompany the body and the movement of performers. Through her practice and her collaborations, she seeks to revive materials that at first glance are inflexible. The particular question that puzzles Marie today is: how to make costume the central part of a production?
Marie Bajenova is an independent clothing designer. She began her career with a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training in Clothing Design at CFP Arts in Geneva, where she learned the technical aspects of making clothes. She assisted Veronica Segovia in the creation of costumes for Le Direktør by Oscar Gómez Mata as part of the Festival de la Bâtie 2017. This experience brought her to the field of performing arts and pushed her to consolidate her studies with a Bachelor’s in Costume at the National School of Theatre Arts and Techniques (ENSATT).
In 2019, she signed her first costume creation for the show Farewell Body by Romane Peytavin and Pierre Piton, created as part of the Fête de la Danse at L’Arsenic.
Today she questions the place occupied by clothing in dance and performance. Her focus is on the relationship between clothing, body and movement as well as on new technologies and materials used in the new performing arts scene.
